Movie Mise-en-Scene

The Mise-en-scene for this movie was extremely easy considering that it was made outside and that whatever object was in our shot we were going to use.

The scenes were short but filled with activity which made it better since it was not a long slow paced movie. My job was to make sure that their wasn’t any unusual objects negatively affecting our shots. We picked the spots carefully and made sure that the spots were right for us.

If anything had to be moved I would do it. If anything had to be tilted or moved closer to the camera I would take care of that.

Production skills

My production skills have been improving a lot because of all of the time that we have been spending organizing, shooting, and editing our movie. During this year my production skills have slightly been getting better but with this film there has been a boost in confidence of my ability to create a decent film. Working in a group and making sure we are all on the same page has been going a lot smoother in during the making of this film. With the background knowledge that we have know on what we need to have in order to film the movie we can all make the process faster and more effective.

How does your product engage with the audience?

My movie would engage with the audience in a good way because everyone likes action movies. At least, most of the people that I know enjoy watching action movies since it gives a rush of adrenaline and sometimes it can be an action/comedy or action/thriller. Action movies are extremely popular nowadays, they are widely looked for because of their complex plots, explosions, and dangerous stunts. All of those events is what makes these movies so interesting.

How does it represent social groups?

It represents social groups by showing robbers and cops. In a way it shows the good guys and the bad guys. The movie is simply to understand since it is a standard type of action. The “good” guy chasing the “bad” guy is a concept that has always been the same. It shows how much of the time robbers get away with most robberies and that cops are always searching to catch them.

Lighting at our Location

Since I am taking charge as co-set director I suggested to make the movie during afternoon. It should be the middle of the day or when the sun is setting because we are trying to create a mood where the person watching can understand what is going on and will not have a hard time seeing the actor’s movements. This will make the scenes more intense and pleasant to watch. Also, our budget for the movie will not permit us to film at night because we do not have big lights to illuminate the area where filming will take place.

Scouting the Actors

This was a very simple task since we were already put into our groups by our teacher. Using the people that we have in our group we will decide who will do what during the movie. I will be the “bad” guy who is chasing Peter and Megan throughout the short movie. We will have some of our home town friends with us so just incase we need an extra person to do some filming or for any suggestions to fix anything of the mise-en-scene.

Movie location

My group and I decided that we were going to use three different places to film the movie. One is going to be the Key Biscayne bridge because it is where most of the chasing scenes will occur. This place could change considering that it is dangerous to film there. The KBCS public school will be the place where the first parts of the movie will occur since the roof is a place where Peter and Megan will try to hide. We will need permission to film on the roof but we know the teachers of the school will let us if we tell them that it is for a project. The last place is Charle’s house. We will use his house for the beginning scenes of the movie.

Role in the Movie

-Actor

The director of the movie will tell me how to act in my scenes. All I have to do is learn my script and do my best in acting in the scenes.

I will be standing in a hidden spot until I see Charles which is acting as Peter. As soon as I see him I will shoot at him with a fake weapon. I will be shooting him in the shoulder. I will be acting as the “bad” guy in the short movie. The purpose of me being in the movie is that I am trying to not let Charles get away.

I have no dialogue in the short movie. I will only be acting.

-Mise-en-scene

Everything that we are going to wear or put in the scene has to be approved by me. Many things that will be in the movie do not have to be changed since they are built structures such as a bridge, building, and school. The arrangement of the scenes are my responsibility and setting or surroundings are chosen by me and the cinematographer to make sure that my group and I get the best shots.

To make the short movie we will need a building with a wide entrance and some kind of bushes or big column for me to be able to hide without being detected and enough space for Charles and Lola to walk out without any interruptions.
